Paper Collage
Realizing all beautiful colored ink on pages in magazines, I decided to recycle some of it's pages into art before the magazines ends up in our landfills. I tear pages from various magazines into smaller pieces. The pieces are then carefully bonded, one by one, onto a canvas, in a thoughtful order, like brush strokes of different colors to create a scene. By using several layers of torn paper, texture is created and the underlying colors work together to enhance the artwork. Incorporating letters or short words and sentences to symbolizes the essence and mood of the artwork created like hidden messages.
About the Artist
I have been working with several mediums during my 30 year professional art career and I started working with paper collage art as a result of a year of challenging events that I needed to overcome and move on. A quick onset of partial blindness in one eye was like a death sentence to me as a professional fine art artist, but I have learned to focus on what I can do not what I can't do.
Inner strength, positive thoughts and the things we treasure like having fun, enjoying music, dance, nature, family and friends are all present in my art be it in words or subjects created.
